PAPPRI (Association of Artists, Songwriters and Musicians of the Republic of Indonesia) released an attitude statement openly through the mass media, in order to correct Ahmad Dhani's statement, which misunderstood PAPPRI's position as a professional organization.
PAPPRi is the oldest music professional organization which was founded in 1986 and is the largest in Indonesia and has Regional Leadership Council (DPD) representatives in 29 (twenty nine) Provinces and PAPPRI DPCs at the City/Regency level.
In the YouTube channel broadcast "Ahmad Dhani in the News", on Saturday, August 26 2023, Ahmad Dhani, in his capacity as one of the AKSI Advisory Board, was asked to give an official speech, at the inauguration of AKSI (All Indonesian Composers Association) in Bandung, on Friday, August 25 2023.

In his statement, Ahmad Dhani mentioned the name PAPPRI 3 (three) times, as follows:
(1) 13.34 minute:
"The presence of AKSI is actually one thing that we want to take care of, but the small things that we want to take care of, become a big thing for our seniors who sit at LMKN, sit at PAPPRI or sit at LIRA"
(2) Minutes 14.38
“I just want to take care of one thing they can't, namely live events. It turns out that of the 140 billion, they only collected 900 million, not even 1 percent of the 140 billion. "There I told our seniors who might already be full, those who sit at LIRA, sit at PAPPRI will definitely be healthy, sit at FESMI will definitely be healthy, those who are not healthy will definitely be us."
(3) Minute 19.50:
“In fact, several singing artists have paid directly to the songwriters. Pay directly to Ari Bias, pay directly to Piyu, to Denny Chasmala, pay directly to me, pay directly to Yovie, only Yovie is silent, Bebi Romeo is also there, only Bebi is silent. What does that mean, that we have done direct licensing. So what does LMKN want, what does PAPPRI want? What do you want to do? Want to make a fuss with me?"
This statement was conveyed in the context that the songwriters who are members of AKSI, want to manage their own live event royalties using a direct license, between the songwriter and the singer, through a mutual agreement.
Listening to the statement above, where Ahmad Dhani deliberately mentioned PAPPRI's name 3 times, the PAPPRI DPP through this Press Release, stated that:
Ahmad Dhani's statement is very wrong and baseless. Clearly, Ahmad Dhani does not fully understand PAPPRI. That PAPPRI is a professional organization that has no direct connection with the activities of withdrawing, collecting and distributing royalties.
This authority, in accordance with statutory provisions, is within the domain of LMKN (National Collective Management Institute), and LMK (Collective Management Institute) which has obtained operational permits from the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
PAPPRI as a professional organization that brings together songwriters, singers and musicians throughout Indonesia, has the main task of carrying out useful activities and improving the quality of its members. And in general PAPPRI participates in maintaining the Indonesian music ecosystem so that it runs according to the existing order.
Within this framework, PAPPRI has carried out various important activities, including:
Striving for a National Music Day on March 9 as stipulated in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 2013.
Apart from that, PAPPRI also contributed to the Indonesian music ecosystem by, among other things, initiating the establishment of KCI (Karya Cipta Indonesia) and Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI Awards) together with ASIRI (Indonesian Music Industry Association) and KCI (Karya Cipta Indonesia), PAPPRI also initiated the establishment of the Federation Indonesian Musicians Union (FESMI), Music Professional Certification Institute (LSP Musik Indonesia), Collective Management Institute for the Protection of the Rights of Indonesian Singers and Recording Musicians (LMK PAPPRI).
In the field of social welfare, PAPPRI collaborates with YKDK (Foundation for Solidarity and Social Care) to continuously provide appreciation funds for music people who are PAPPRI members and non-PAPPRI members who are sick.
PAPPRI together with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and the Ministry of Manpower prepared the Indonesian National Job Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the field of music.
That is part of what PAPPRI has done so far.
PAPPRI's DPP, today, Wednesday, August 30 2023, hereby states that Ahmad Dhani's statement regarding PAPPRI's positioning is very wrong, therefore it must be straightened out, so as not to give rise to a wrong public perception of PAPPRI which has been fighting for the Indonesian music industry for years to become more advanced and great.
Thus, this Press Release is submitted to mass media colleagues, so that it can be broadcast widely k
